November Meeting
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! This is just a reminder that the November's meeting will be held tomorrow night (Dec. 1st) at 6:30 pm. We'll be discussing Liz's pick, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal . I'm hosting this month's meeting, so if you didn't get the email I sent out a week ago or you need directions to my apartment or you need my phone number, leave a comment or send me an email. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow night!

August meeting
I sent around an email about the August meeting, and I hope to see you at my new-ish apartment on the 25th. The address, which I think I neglected to mention in the email, is 901 S. 49th Street. We're on the first floor. If you need directions or have other pressing questions, give me a call! We've been doing 6:30, which still works fine for me. See you there.

May Meeting
Hello everyone! Looks like meeting time is upon us. I completely thought that we had another week, not sure why but I did. I don't remember if we talked about where we would meet this month. We can meet at my house. Most of you haven't been to my new apartment I'll email the address. Same time, 6:30, and I will have snacks. Can someone bring wine? Hope everyone can make it.

Possible change to March's meeting
Last week, my husband bought tickets for us to see a couple of films being shown at the Philadelphia Film Festival. When I saw the tickets last night, I found out that one of the films is being shown at 9:15 on the 31st. So, this may affect the book club meeting or maybe not. I'd still be happy to host, but would probably need to end the meeting around 8:30. Would that be too early for everyone? If you want, we could start it at 6:00, instead of 6:30? Or move it to the first Tuesday of April? Or if someone else wants to host this month, I'd happily host April. Let me know what works best for you guys. I'm sorry to have to make this so complicated - I had thought the film was going to be shown Sunday night instead of Tuesday evening.

March Meeting
I just wanted to remind you about this month's book club meeting since I offered to host. My address is: 339 Fitzwater Street (on the corner of Fourth and Fitzwater, with an ochre/gold-ish colored door, off of fabric row). I live on the third floor, so you can either call my cell (267.441.2232) or ring the top doorbell and I'll come down and get you. I hope everyone's enjoying the book so far, and I'll see you on the 31st at 6:30! Oh, and I apologize beforehand for the lack of decorating in our apartment...you'd never know that we've lived here for almost three years.

Meeting
Sorry, guys, sorry! I meant to post earlier about this month's meeting. Have you started/finished the book, or is it still in the longest-ever transit from one library to another? One that really would have been speedier by roller skates? Anyway.
Please come to my apt for Tuesday's get-together, 250 S. 12th Street, second floor. Call me when you get here, and I'll come down to let you in. 901-486-6700. 6:30 usually works for everyone. (Unless it doesn't? Let me know.) I'll make snacks and whatnot for ya. I'll try to get some reading group questions prepared. If I ever get my book, I should have the book club edition.
happy weekend.

next meeting?
Hi y'all:
It's time to think about November's meeting! Meredith emailed me, and unfortunately, Thanksgiving festivities are going to prevent her from hosting. She's on for December, though.
Hope the book is going well for you, and feel free to post or comment (or email!) if you'd like to host the meeting on Nov. 25. That's Thanksgiving week. And let me know if you're having problems logging onto Blogger. It might be better for you to create a Blogger account first, confirm your email with them, and then let me send you a new invite.

Welcome, newbies, and next meeting
Hi new faces! We hope you can make it to the next meeting, which will now be back to our original TUESDAY evening, the last of the month, at 6:30. We're reading THE GIRLS WHO WENT AWAY (see link to the side). Who wants to host? I could, because my husband has class late, so he wouldn't have to hide in the other room. But I am certainly not wedded to hosting.

CoaJAA
We had a great meeting this week, and finally got to meet Faezeh! Welcome, and thanks for coming! I've got a guest blog to post (as soon as I send the questions to our last great author!) but for now, onward to the next books. We were talking about how we felt that we'd missed out on a lot of classics that we "should" have read in our youth, so this will be the first month of trying to catch up on a classic and read a contemporary book simultaneously. Sarah recommended Loser Goes First, a memoir of an awkward and eternally unsuccessful thirty-something who seems to miss every boat with aplomb. All My Sons, one of Henry Miller's more successful plays, follows the story of two families as the fathers get rich manufacturing faulty airplane parts during World War II. One goes to jail and the other remains free, and bitter conflict goes on to poison the next generation.
Stay tuned for Laurie Viera Rigler!

Next meeting

Hey cats- let's talk about the next meeting. June 24, 6 p, and we're discussing Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict. And as long as we're confessing: I haven't started it yet. But I will! As soon as I get it from the library. Want to meet at my place? We live at 250 S. 12th Street, Apt. 2, and that's between Locust and Spruce. You'll have to call me when you arrive so that I can let you in. My # is 901-486-6700. Food, drinks, etc. are in the works. Who's coming? Even if you haven't read the book, come anyway! We can pick the book for next month. And you absentees: if you have a pick for the next book, leave it in the comments and we'll add it to the hat.
For your amusement, I have here a delightful page, beginning with Jane Austen jokes, and continuing through Jane Austen answering machine recordings, Jane Austen Top 10 Songs, and Jane Austen Top 10 Punishments.
See you there.
