So Regan cant make it on the 30th, how about Monday the 28th? If we can settle on that we will change it but if there is anyone who cant make it we will stick to the 29th and hope to see you at our second meeting, Faezeh. I am not the queen of writing in ink on my calendar, admittedly, but I will do my best for the stabilitys sake! :) Its understandably a little shaky with the first meeting and new people joining at the last minute.
As for the foot binding- I was so horrified/intrigued that I couldnt help looking it up on Wikipedia... I tried so hard to create a mental picture based on the description in the book, but the photos in the article really help a lot. Once you have read this part check it out if you can stomach it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot_binding
I really can not fathom that up until about 100 years ago EVERY single girl in China had to endure this... how did I not know that??? And at such a young age... its really so heartbreakingly sad but really gives great insight to Chinese culture at that time. Anyone in the group of Chinese descent at all?? It would be interesting to hear from someone who knew more about it.

I can actually make it on the 28th too :)...would that work? Also, will we be finished by say 9?
I would imagine we would be done by 9, but for this meeting and those in the future of course we will all be free to come late/leave early... its not school!! :) Some may finish early, we may get going on some and not finish until late simeday. I hope we will make as much of an effort as possible to be there for most of it, but I know we all have other commitments.
I'd prefer not to meet on a Monday; I go to a spin class every M/Th night and I get cranky if I miss it. But if it's best for everyone else, I can make it this once.
It seems to me that Tuesday is alot better for everybody..maybe I should just sit this one out :D...I can make it for the next meeting tho cuz my Tuesday evening will be free...so dont change the time if its too difficult for everyone.
The 28th is good for me. So far, I can come three nights in a row -- does that make me too boring? As for foot binding, I have read other interesting books on China that have had that rite of passage included -- if I can think of the names, I'll share. (I think I'm a lot older than most of you so I beg you to forgive my feelbe-mindedness.)
